At Bounce Back Physiotherapy, following your assessment and diagnosis, we pride ourselves in delivering the three main pillars of Physiotherapy:
- Advice and Education: to include postural and work-place advice and information on what is happening in your body (so you know what to do - and not do!).
- Rehabilitation: a bespoke home exercise programme with a functional emphasis to put back what you've lost.
- Manual therapy: hands-on treatment to help with pain, the sensation of stiffness and tension - massage, joint mobilising, stretches +/- acupuncture
Assessment includes a health-related interview and discussion of your main concerns. You will then be asked to perform certain movements so the Physiotherapist can see if your movement is restricted and test your muscles and joints. You may be asked to remove some of your outer clothing as clear observation is very important. Please let your Physiotherapist know if this makes you feel uncomfortable.
Physiotherapy is very 'hands on' and your Physiotherapist will also probe the area of concern with their hands to feel the soft tissues and movement of the joints where appropriate.
Treatment may include heat therapy, massage, joint mobilising and manipulation, stretches, ultrasound, strapping/taping and nerve mobilising. Kostas and Bernie are both Acupuncturists too.
Education and Rehabilitation involves things like exercise prescription and advice about self care. This may include advice about heat or cold therapy, postural and positioning advice and work related or sports specific advice. Rehabilitation is about putting back what your body has lost following pain or injury. This needs to be tailored to each individual. We recognise how busy everyone is these days, so we aim to be specific and achievable in our goal setting with you.
We believe in educating our clients so they may learn how best to look after their bodies. This helps to maintain function and prevent recurrence of problems.
